Fleet expansion for China Southern

China Southern Airlines, China’s largest carrier by fleet size, plans to finance the purchase of 13 new aircrafts through a 400-million-U.S.-dollar syndicated loan over 10-12 years. The latest addition will raise the company’s number for planes to buy in 2006 up to a record high of 50, which highlights its determination to expand its fleet substantially by 2010.

The additional aircrafts will bring the company’s fleet to 290, after about 12 MD-82s were replaced this year.
