New boss for InterContinental at Taba

InterContinental has appointed Ashraf Khalil as the new Area General Manager for the hotels group forthcoming properties in the Taba Region, Egypt. Khalil whose previous roles included General Manager at the Holiday Inn Resort Sharm El Sheikh and General Manager at the InterContinental Garden Reef Resort Sharm El Sheikh, will also be appointed General Manager of the InterContinental Resort Taba Heights, due to open April 2006.

Beginning his career in 1974 in the hospitality industry, Khalil first joined InterContinental Hotels Group in 1980, spending a total of eleven years working at senior level within the Group’s properties.

“The strength, recognition and perception of our hotel brands are evident in the number of development deals we have secured for 2006 and the forthcoming years. Egypt is a prime example where we are expanding our investments and having Khalil on board to operate and lead our properties in the Red Sea resort of Taba ensures us that our set targets and guest satisfaction rates will be maintained and achieved making these new properties a success,” said Chris Moloney, Chief Operating Officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East and Africa.

The soon to be opened InterContinental Resort Taba Heights will be located on the Sinai Red Sea Coast, one of Egypt’s premiere areas.

The resort will boast 503 guest rooms and suites, 11 restaurants and bars, swimming pools and an aqua centre surrounded by white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and stunning desert scenery, making this property the ideal get away.
