lowcostbeds.com strengthens team

lowcostbeds.com is announcing two senior appointments of Lydia Dearden and Andy Tilby into its purchasing team.

Lydia joins as group purchasing director, while Tilby joins as purchasing director and will lead the buying team in Western Mediterranean.

Lydias has 12 years of senior management experience, including senior contracting manager and overseas operations director roles at Airtours. Her particular area of expertise lies within the Eastern Mediterranean and long haul areas, of which in addition to leading the buying team, will be the focus of Lydia’s bed purchasing role at lowcostbeds.com, stated the company.

In tandem with the significantly enhanced purchasing team, lowcostbeds.com is developing its business model to be highly reactive to the commercial needs of its retail partners. Through the creation of a “bear pit” style trading floor akin to the old stock market days, the UK-based team continually track the best deals available that customers want to buy - which is distinct to traditional tactical activity, which tends to focus on what an over exposed tour operator wants to sell, according to the company.

The company’s chief executive officer Paul Evans commented: “We want to grow even more, and want to do so by supporting the right retail partners. Our focus is firmly on bringing the trade the best bed prices on the market, whilst increasing the range of stock available. I now have the team I want in place to achieve this.”

Lydia said, “The business already has a good foothold in the Eastern Mediterranean region, my mission now is to take lowcostbeds.com and set us up as the immediately preferred bed supplier to the retail trade.”
