LodgeNet expands with GlobeCast deal

GlobeCast WorldTV and LodgeNet Entertainment Corporation have announced an agreement to offer GlobeCast WorldTV’s selection of more than 160 international television and radio channels to more than 6,000 LodgeNet-served hotels nationwide. The new agreement will allow travelers in LodgeNet served hotels to enjoy the best in international television broadcasting. GlobeCast WorldTV’s channel line-up includes more than 33 languages representing 41 countries from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa - everything from TV Polonia to Yemen TV to Africa Independent TV. The service also includes the popular EuroNews, a daily report on world events available in seven languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.
“Because the United States hosts millions of visitors from all over the world, GlobeCast is pleased to announce this collaboration with LodgeNet, enabling international travelers to enjoy their favorite entertainment programs, news and sports while they’re abroad,” said Lisa Coelho, Vice President, GlobeCast WorldTV. “LodgeNet’s 26 years of guest room TV experience and technical reliability are major assets to us in extending our programming into the United States.”
“We are constantly looking for ways to help hoteliers create a better experience for more of their guests, and this agreement enables us to do that, especially in hotels with large numbers of guests from outside the United States,” added Morgan J. Lambert, Vice President, Satellite Programming and Special Markets for LodgeNet.
Visitors from up to 41 countries can now keep up with headlines from home and not miss a moment of their favorite dramas; international guests staying at LodgeNet-served hotels can travel across the United States and still follow developments in news and entertainment at home. Current GlobeCast WorldTV subscribers, US residents from overseas as well as general television audiences with an interest in foreign-based programming can now take a trip and stay informed at the same time.
