Lufthansa takes magazine award

22nd Feb 2006

The British aerospace magazine Flight International has named Lufthansa as
the winner of the Aviation Excellence Award. The award, granted in the “Major
Airline Flight Operations” category, acknowledges the airline’s world-leading
performance in terms of aircraft operation. “In our discussions with suppliers to
Lufthansa and experienced flight operations personnel it became clear that Lufthansa
was considered a by-word for the skilled, safe and effective exploitation of
aircraft worldwide”, Flight International editor Kieran Daly said, explaining the
jury’s decision.

“The award is a great honour for all Lufthansa staff - in the cockpit, the cabin and
on the ground. Quality is an important value. Our customers appreciate service,
quality and personal attention. This award strengthens our commitment, and will spur
us on in the future,” Lufthansa CEO and Chairman Wolfgang Mayrhuber commented.
“Lufthansa stands for safety, internationally recognised technical expertise,
service and numerous innovations for the aviation industry. We introduced inflight
Internet access with FlyNet, our Business Class has the longest bed in its class,
Lufthansa engineers and pilots have been working for years in Toulouse on the
development of the A380 and we have introduced new, innovative products that permit
greater comfort and time sovereignty for frequent travellers. Our new First Class
Terminal in Frankfurt is unparalleled worldwide”, he added.
