Shangri-La wins China awards
The first month of 2006 saw Shangri-La Hotels scoop several top awards in the
People’s Republic of China.
The first reader’s poll “Gold List” by National Geographic Traveler, a
leading Chinese leisure travel magazine, ranked the world’s top hotels,
resorts, spas, airlines, travel routes and frequent guest programmes.

Readers voted Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore as the “Best Business Hotel”
and Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia as the
“Best Resort.” Shangri-La’s Golden Circle programme was voted the “Best
Frequent Guest Programme.”
In another first reader’s poll, in China’s prestigious consumer magazine
Tide, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts was named the “Preferred Hotel Brand
of the Chinese Businessman.”
For the second consecutive year, Shangri-La was named “Best Hotel Chain”
in the Chinese Hurun Report business magazine, famous for its annual
listing the richest Chinese. The readers of the report also voted
Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai as the “Best Hotel in Shanghai.”
“We are delighted that both business and leisure travelers have singled
us out for recognition—for individual hotels and the group overall—
in such high quality, widely read publications,” said Kent Zhu,
Shangri-La’s vice president sales and marketing, China.
