Crawford takes major Concord post

John Q. Hammons have appointed Terry Crawford as the general manager of the new Embassy Suites Hotel Charlotte-Concord and adjoining 75,000-square-foot Concord Convention Center in Concord, N.C.Due to open in spring 2007, the 308-suite hotel
and convention center will overlook the city-owned Rocky River Golf Club
and will feature a Spa Botanica and Caffeina’s Internet Café and offer a
combined meeting space of 90,000 square feet.  Both properties will be
managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, LLC,
the nation’s leading independent builder, developer, owner and manager of
upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites.

An industry veteran, Crawford will start in early June 2006 and will be
responsible for the overall management of the hotel and convention center,
including the day-to-day operations and supervision of the management and
staff.  The hotel site is strategically located east of Interstate 85 and
north of Interstate 485, less than a mile from the popular Concord Mills
Mall, the 167,000-seat Lowe’s Motor Speedway and Concord Regional Airport.
The hotel will be the fifth John Q. Hammons property in North Carolina,
and the convention center is the first of its kind for Concord.

With more than 30 years of experience, Crawford has served as a regional
marketing manager with the Embassy Suites Hotel’s brand.  He also was the
AmeriSuites brand manager for Prime Hospitality and the senior director of
marketing with Richfield Hospitality.

Crawford joined John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, LLC in 2003 as the
general manager of the World Golf Renaissance Resort in St. Augustine,
Fla.  Under Crawford’s leadership, the property experienced a 25 percent
sales increase and was named to the top 75 golf resorts by Golf Digest, the top 100
golf resorts by Condé Nast Traveler and was awarded a Golden Tee by Meetings &
Conventions.  He also earned a Mustang Award from the Marriott brand, which
recognizes general managers who have overcome adversity, such as a
hurricane or major renovations, while maintaining high levels of customer
satisfaction.
