Austrian opens expansion with Ostrava

The Austrian Airlines Group
is launching a new service to Ostrava in the northeastern Czech Republic which will continue with the expansion of its route network into Eastern Europe. Within the scope of a code share agreement with Central Connect Airlines, two Vienna-Ostrava-Vienna services a day will now operate from Monday to Friday. Both services will of course be timed to provide perfect connections with the global route network of the Austrian Airlines Group through its Vienna hub. After the capital city Prague, which is already connected with Vienna by up to five Austrian flights a day, the new connection represents the fastest route to the third-largest city in the Czech Republic and its booming hinterland.

Chief Commercial Officer of the Austrian Airlines Group, Dr. Josef E. Burger, made the following statement on the new destination: ‘Our summer schedule 2006 will see us making another major push within our specialist region of Eastern Europe. In addition to Ekaterinburg in Russia, Donetsk in the Ukraine, Iasi in Romania and Pecs in Hungary, all key industrial centres in their respective regions, we can now integrate Ostrava, located in the northeast of our neighbouring state, into our route network. We continue to build on our leadership for aviation services to the East.’
