Galileo continues Asia expansion

Galileo International is signing a new agreement with AirAsia which will provide Galileo agents with access to the airline’s full range of fares.

The agreement includes AirAsia’s subsidiary airlines, Thailand-based Thai AirAsia and Indonesia-based Indonesia AirAsia.

Brad Holman, managing director, Airline Services, Cendant TDS, Asia Pacific (APAC) comments: “This exciting agreement represents a significant milestone for Galileo in Asia and it will have far reaching implications for our broader success in the region as we continue to create breakthrough partnerships and deliver unmatched innovative solutions.”

“AirAsia understands that travel agencies still form a very important part of the market in Asia, and is one of the first low-cost carriers to recognise and take action to maximise this potential,” stated Dato’ Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia Berhad. “AirAsia also recognises the benefits of working with a world class leader such as Galileo, in providing value-added distribution channels to expand awareness of our brand globally.”

Launched in 2001, AirAsia has pioneered and revolutionised air travel in Asia, and has a growing route network to over 60 destinations in nine countries (Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Macau, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines) across the region.
