Choice, Scandinavia get interactive tv

Choice Hotels Scandinavia are entering into a new five year frame agreement with OTRUM for the supply of interactive TV solutions. This agreement is effective immediately and has been made in order to include many new products from OTRUM, such as LCD screens, digital video servers, satellite download of movies and OTRUM Fusion.


As at 30th of September 2005, Choice Hotels Scandinavia had 147 hotels with a total of 18732 rooms. The estimated value of the contract with OTRUM ASA is NOK 162 million (€20,5 million), over the five-year contract period. Installations will begin as soon as possible.

Mr. Torgeir Silseth, Vice-CEO of Choice Hotels Scandinavia comments, “Technology is changing very fast and Choice Hotels Scandinavia want to upgrade the guest’s in-room experience. We are certain that 2006 is the optimal time to introduce new interactive TV standards throughout the chain, as technology has come a long way in the four years since we signed our original frame agreement with OTRUM.”

All five brands of Choice Hotels Scandinavia are included in the agreement, and a brand strategy for interactive TV will be developed. OTRUM will endeavour to comply with the guidelines of Choice Hotels Scandinavia’s brand strategy, to find the best selection of functions and services to fit the specific guest mix.
