Martinique Club Med reopens

Club Med has reopened its new US$60 million Club Med Buccaneer’s Creek resort on the French West Indies island of Martinique.

The reopening of the resort, set on one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, represents an important step in Club Med’s ongoing global expansion and, the company suggests, ‘its commitment to the needs of today’s upscale traveller.’

The day of the opening—December 17—also marked Club Med’s inauguration of direct charter services from New York’s JFK airport to Fort de France, Martinique.  The plane transported Buccaneer Creek’s first guests and a group of travel industry leaders to celebrate the iinauguration.

The group included Liberty Travel C.O.O. Cathy Pelaez, who commented, “The opening of the new generation Club Med at Buccaneer’s Creek was spectacular. Buccaneer’s Creek is back more beautiful and upscale than ever before —our agents are also very excited to have this new and luxurious product to offer clients who
are looking for an international, sophisticated vacation.”

“The new weekly non-stop charter flights from New York City’s JFK International Airport to Fort-de-France in Martinique get our guests to Buccaneer’s Creek in time for lunch,” commented Club Med Americas President and C.E.O. John Vanderslice, who accompanied guests on the inaugural flight. Regular weekly non-stop charter flights to Martinique will begin officially on February 1.
