Best hotel chain vote for Shangri-La

Shangri-La was named Best Hotel Chain in Asia in the annual FinanceAsia Business Travel Poll Awards 2005 with readers voting Shangri-La Hotel,  Makati as Manila’s best-rated hotel.In addition,  Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok; Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing; Island Shangri-La,  Hong Kong; Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta; Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur;  and Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei, were ranked amongst the top three hotels in their respective cities.

The poll invited FinanceAsia readers to rate the best and worst elements of Asian travel.  Of 768 responses,  25 percent of respondents spent more than 50 nights per year in hotels and 44 percent spent between 21 and 50 nights in hotels.

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently manages 47 hotels under the five-star Shangri-La and four-star Traders brands, with a rooms inventory of over 23,000. 

The group has over 40 projects under development in Canada, mainland China, India, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Thailand,  United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.
