Lufthansa promotion targets key expansion

Lufthansa German Airlines has
announced that it has appointed Ms. Claudia M. Huegel to the position of
regional director for Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Australia and
New Zealand, a crucial growth area. Announcing the new appointment, Mr. Thierry Antinori, Lufthansa’s
Executive Vice President Marketing & Sales and Member of the Executive Board,
said: “We are pleased to welcome Ms. Huegel to the post of Regional Director.
Her extensive international experience with Lufthansa will bring a further
dimension to our activities in this key region.”

Prior to this posting, Ms. Huegel was General Manager, Global Sales
Development.  Based in Frankfurt, she was responsible for Lufthansa’s sales
strategy and the airline’s positioning worldwide from 2001.  Linking the field
offices to headquarters in all sales-related matters, she was in charge of
optimising results across the international sales organisation.
Ms. Huegel reports to Mr. Uwe Mueller, Lufthansa’s Vice President, Asia &
Pacific. The key appointment follows the assignment of Mr. Arved von zur Muehlen to
the role of Managing Director, Greater China.  He is the predecessor of Ms.
Huegel and was Regional Director for the past three years.
Mr. Antinori also thanked Mr. von zur Muehlen for his contribution to the
growth of the region.  “Arved von zur Muehlen has presided over the rapid
growth of Lufthansa’s operations in this region, and we look forward to his
continued success as he takes on the challenge of Greater China.”
Starting with the new Winter Timetable Lufthansa will
offer an additional eight weekly flights to the region, and hence its
operations serving Asia-Pacific will total 157 flights per week.  The flight
increase further strengthens Lufthansa’s leading position as the number one
European carrier in the region.
