Hilton focus on the less fortunate

Twenty children will be educated for life, 40 orphans will go on the holiday of their life and hundreds of others will get a kick out of life as Hilton hotels across Asia gear up for their ongoing end-of-year community festivities.Hilton International in Asia has announced it would fund a number of
activities for kids including the education of up to 20 children -
through to graduation - from the tsunami-affected Takuapa community
outside Phuket. Ê

Support for the 20 children of Takuapa will be long term, with funds
channelled directly into the personal bank account of each child (set
up by the Tsunami Relief for the Children of Takuapa Fund) to purchase
school supplies, books, school projects and medical needs until high
school graduation. A team from the nearby Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort
& Spa has also agreed to take on a “big brother” role and organise
on-going activities and social events for the kids.

Leading the festive spirit in other parts of Asia, Hilton Sanya Resort
& Spa will team up with Hiltons in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing and
Chongqing to treat 10 orphans from each city to their first beach
holiday when General Manager, Dirk De Cuyper and his team, host a
two-day Christmas Getaway on Hainan Island.

Said De Cuyper, “Hainan has everything for kids - picture perfect
views, endless sunshine and crunchy white sand. We are flying in 40
orphans and their supervisors to experience the best holiday any kid
from any country could hope for. With our resort just days away from
opening, our aim is to give back to the community even before we start
earning.”

Summing up the end of year activities, President of Hilton
International in Middle East and Asia Pacific, Mr Koos Klein said, “The
efforts of each of these hotels reflects the community spirit that
Hilton takes seriously. We get so much from the communities that
support us and Christmas is a time to show our appreciation and give
something back.”Ê
