Aeroflot tackles online ticketing

Russia’s flag carrier, Aeroflot is launching a pilot
version of its new online booking service and plans to
roll out electronic paperless ticketing.
The airline, which has switched to the Sabre GDS, is also introducing self-service express
check-in kiosks at main airports, as well as
touch-screen self-booking units in its offices so
travellers can book

“The scale of the project is vast, and one of the
biggest travel technology projects attempted in
Russia,” says Sergey Kiryushin, Chief Intelligence
Officer at Aeroflot.

Aeroflot expects to have one passenger in every five using the automated check-in facilities by the end of 2006.

The state run airline also says it is also on schedule
with the technical requirements needed for its entry
into the SkyTeam Alliance in March 2006.
