Kempinski’s pushes big expansion

Kempinski
is experiencing its most exciting year since 1897, opening a record number of 13 hotels during 2005. By the end of the year, Europe’s oldest group of luxury hotels will have grown from 38 to 51 properties. Together with a further 29 projects currently under construction and final development, its impressive portfolio holds a total of 77 properties in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and South America.
Since the beginning of 2005, three very distinctive properties have already opened their doors for the public. The Emirates Palace, one of the most opulent hotels ever been built, soft-opened in Abu Dhabi in March. The Kempinski Hotel Giardino di Costanza in Sicily has been welcoming guests since February. In London, Britain’s second oldest magistrates court, where Mick Jagger, Oscar Wilde and John Lennon have already been ‘guests’, reopened as the Courthouse Hotel Kempinski. Further additions to the Kempinski portfolio are the highly acclaimed Commune by the Great Wall Kempinski Beijing and the Kempinski Hotel Atlantis Bah’a Real on Fuerteventura, both chose to team up with the renowned hotel group in order to strengthen their market share. In Turkey, the Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay in the sailing resort of Bodrum and the group’s first golf hotel, the Kempinski Hotel The Dome in Belek, opened their doors. Opposite the famous Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg the Kempinski Hotel Moika 22 awaits its guests in splendour. Building on its reputation in St. Moritz, Kempinski now offers a luxurious ski resort in Bansko, Bulgaria, the Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena. Last but not least, the legendary ‘Kili’, the Kilimanjaro Hotel Kempinski in Dar Es Salaam had its long awaited re-opening in August.

During the coming months, new Kempinski hotels and resorts will open on the Spice Island of Zanzibar, in Chad and Dalian, China. Throughout 2006 more properties will follow in Eastern Europe (Latvia and Slovakia), in the Middle East (Dubai and the Dead Sea) and in China. By end 2008, Kempinski is currently expecting to manage 15 properties in the fast-emerging market of China.
