BWIA Opt to Save the Trees

Effective September 15, all tickets issued at
BWIA ticket offices for itineraries involving travel solely on BWIA, will generate
an electronic ticket (e-ticket). This move is the first step towards the airline
meeting the IATA (International Air Transport Association) mandate for the new
industry standard of a paperless ticket environment by 2007.
BWIA’s Manager Corporate Communications Dionne Ligoure stated,

“E-ticketing is the
new industry ticketing standard and BWIA is committed to the process of transition
from paper tickets. For the customer this means stress-free ticketing, no tickets to
lose and no last minute queues for tickets on departure. BWIA, by putting the
requisite support systems in place, is also working feverishly to bring other key
stakeholders on stream with e-ticketing.”

Except for Manchester and Suriname, E-ticketing is available throughout the BWIA
network.
