Dominica Announces 9th Annual World Creole Music Festival Line-up

Dominica has announced
the headlining
artists for the 9th Annual
World Creole Music Festival October 28-30, 2005, taking place at Pottersville
Savannah, Roseau.
Performances on Friday, October 28th will
include Jamaican artist Sizzla, who has released no fewer than 11
albums in the past 5 years; Dominica’s own WCK, who are the original creators
of Bouyon music; and Djakout
Mizik, a
Kompa music band from Haiti.  Other performances
will include Ban’Biyo from Guadeloupe and Cool Session Brass from the USVI.

Performances on Saturday, October 29th will
include Kassav from Guadeloupe, the
world-famous creators of Zouk music
who have become a living legend; Ti Kabzy, a band from Haiti who began performing
at events in Canada 16 years ago; Michele Henderson, native of
Dominica and winner of two FAME (Foundation for Artists Musicians and
Entertainers) Awards; Liquid
Ice, a
Dominican nostalgia band
that is preparing to release a new album later this year titled Lèvè Ensemble; and
the group Palenque Son Karibe from Venezuela, who
perform many types of music including
Calypso, Merengue and Boleros.

Performances on Sunday, October 30th will
include Xtatik from Trinidad &
Tobago, who are the winners of
numerous awards including the New York Sunshine Award (1998 & 1999), Ft.
Lauderdale Reggae & Soca Music Awards (1998) and the T&T Music Awards
(1999); Singer/Producer Monique Seka, the “Queen of Afro-Zouk,” who
performs a variety of styles including Salsa, Mandingo and Mapouka.; and
Patrick St. Eloi from Guadeloupe,
whose music has been internationally
recognized by the Guadeloupe Sacem, Guadeloupe Arts Centre, Paris Sacem, and
Martinique Sacem.  Other performers will include
Nu-Look and Midnight Groovers.
