Mexicana Expands from San Jose

Mexicana Airlines will begin new
nonstop, international service to Mexico City and will increase the number of
nonstop flights to Guadalajara from Mineta San Jose International Airport beginning September 2.“The inauguration of flights between San Jose and Mexico City will bring
mutual benefits in trade opportunities, travel and tourism, as Mexico City,
with its central location, is a natural hub for other leisure and business
destinations,” said Director of Aviation William Sherry.  “Guadalajara is home
to many of Mexico’s technology-based businesses and these additional flights
provides yet another opportunity to facilitate business between San Jose and
Mexico.”  According to the U.S. Census 2000 Report, 74% of the Mexican-
American population in the Bay Area lived in SJC’s service area.
These new routes will operate using state-of-the-art Airbus A320 airplanes
with a two-class configuration and Mexicana’s signature in-flight service.
Nonstop flights from San Jose to Mexico City will operate Thursdays and
Fridays, beginning September 2, departing at 12:40 p.m., arriving into Mexico
City at 6:55 p.m.  Flights from Mexico City to San Jose will depart at
9:15 a.m arriving in San Jose at 11:30 a.m.
Serving SJC and the Silicon Valley since 1990, Mexicana Airlines will be
adding three, nonstop flights from San Jose to Guadalajara, beginning
September 3, on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, departing San Jose at
2:20 p.m. and arriving in the city of Guadalajara at 8:00 p.m.  Returning
flights from Guadalajara are scheduled to depart at 11:15 a.m., arriving in
San Jose at 1:10 p.m.  With these additional flights, daily, nonstop service
to Guadalajara is now available.
With this addition of flights, Mexicana Airlines reinforces it’s
leadership in the U.S market and complies with the transformation process that
began in early March with a new fleet image, transforming it into one of the
youngest and most modern fleets in the world.  Additionally, Mexicana has
recently updated its in-flight crew uniforms to a modern, more stylish look,
further evidence of the commitment and continued innovation of Mexicana de
Aviacion.
The new and expanded service from San Jose demonstrates the importance of
this Northern California gateway for Mexicana, and their commitment to support
the travel needs of Bay Area residents. “Business and leisure travelers will
now enjoy the convenience of nonstop service to Guadalajara and our attractive
schedules to Mexico City, also known as La Ciudad de los Palacios,” said Jorge
Goytortua, Regional Vice President Sales West Coast, U.S. and Canada.
