American Eagle Nearly There with AFA

American Eagle announced today it has reached a tentative agreement in contract negotiations
with the Association of Flight Attendants, representing the airline’s
flight attendants.“I am pleased that we have been able to reach this agreement.  We are very
proud of our flight attendants and believe they do an outstanding job caring
for the safety and comfort of our customers,” said Peter M. Bowler, President
- American Eagle.  “This accomplishment is reflective of the value Eagle
places on working together to achieve long-term success for our people and our
company.”
Upon ratification of this contract, Eagle and its unions will have reached
negotiated agreements covering all five of its represented labor groups within
the past 12 months.
The American Eagle contract with AFA became amendable in September 2002,
with negotiations beginning May 2001.  The company requested mediation, under
the guidance of the National Mediation Board, in September 2003, and the first
session under mediation was held in November 2003.  American Eagle currently
employs 1,751 flight attendants.
