Copa and Gol Announce Alliance

Copa Airlines today announced a codeshare agreement with GOL (Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes de Brasil).Ê The agreement between two of the leading companies in Latin American aviation will provide passengers on both airlines greater flight options and connections between Brazil and Panama, including access to and from diverse points in Latin America through Copa Airlines’ Hub of the Americas in Panama.
“We are very pleased with this new alliance with GOL and with the benefits that it affords customers of both of our airlines who are traveling to and from Brazil,” said Dan Gunn, Vice President of Planning, Copa Airlines.Ê “GOL is an excellent partner, with a leadership position in Brazil and innovative service.”

“This agreement will allow GOL to offer Copa Airlines flights between Brazil and Panama, including connections to destinations served from Panama.Ê Passengers who arrive on Brazilian soil on a Copa flight will have the option of connecting between the Guarulhos airport (Sao Paulo) and Galeao (Rio de Janeiro) to all cities served by GOL,” said Wilson Maciel, Vice President of Planning and Technology, GOL.Ê “The agreement also will have the positive effect of strengthening commercial and tourist relations between Brazil and Panama.”

In its initial stages, the agreement will focus on connecting GOL flights between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, with Copa Airlines flights between Sao Paulo y the Hub of the Americas in Panama.Ê Later the companies will work to widen the agreement’s reach to include a greater number of cities in Brazil.
