Former Priceline Executive Joins Hotwire

Discount travel site Hotwire.com today announced it has named 15-year industry veteran John Redcay to the role of vice president of air and car operations.  In this position, Redcay is responsible for establishing and maintaining working relationships with airlines and rental car operators and helping these strategic partners maximize distribution and revenue management opportunities.

Redcay joins Hotwire from Priceline.com, where he most recently served as vice president of hotel revenue management, after seven years with the company.

“John is an important addition to Hotwire’s management team, as his role is pivotal to building mutually beneficial supplier relationships and delivering superior value to our airline and rental car partners,” said Bob Hohman, president, Hotwire.com.  “With Hotwire’s continued focus on the discount consumer segment, John’s breadth of experience, proven industry leadership and commitment to the opaque model is an immediate benefit to Hotwire that will only grow in the coming years.”

“As the only travel site focused entirely on delivering supplier value through opaque channels, I’m eager to lead Hotwire in helping suppliers utilize the opaque channel to drive incremental revenue and revenue per available seat mile (RASM), lower distribution costs and gain share,” Redcay added.

During his tenure at Priceline, Redcay also served as vice president of revenue analysis for the air product where he worked directly with the airline partners building out the opaque distribution channel.  Previously, Redcay spent eight years in forecasting, revenue management, and operating roles for travel suppliers, including rental car companies and airlines.  He joined Priceline from Alamo Rental Car and began his career in the airline industry, working at Metro Air Northeast followed by StatesWest Airlines and USAirways, respectively.
