29th Jun 2005

Mr. John Q. Hammons today announced his plans to develop a 125,000-square-foot John Q. Hammons Center with a main ballroom of 42,000 square feet that will seat 3,000 and to expand the Embassy Suites Hotel(R) Northwest Arkansas in Rogers, Ark. The hotel’s new 152-suite tower will adjoin Hammons Center and will feature a full-service spa on the first floor. The expanded hotel will be Arkansas’ largest all-suite property. The hotel is owned by Mr. John Q. Hammons and is managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels, LLC. “Rogers is one of the United States’ fastest growing areas, making it an economically sound market for building upscale, exceptional hospitality facilities,” said Mr. John Q. Hammons, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of John Q. Hammons Hotels, LLC. “We’re confident that the expansion of the Embassy Suites Hotel, coupled with the development of Hammons Center, will fill the tremendous need for luxury accommodations in this thriving city and will provide easy and convenient access to all local attractions, business districts, the University of Arkansas, as well as the airport.”
The Hammons Center and expanded Embassy Suites Hotel tower is slated to open Q3 2006. The property is located in Rogers, Ark., just off Interstate 540, which will be Interstate 49. The hotel is a short distance from several significant business destinations, including the world headquarters of Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, J.B. Hunt and the University of Arkansas. Serving the cities of Rogers, Lowell, Bentonville, Fayetteville and Springdale, Hammons Center and the hotel are just minutes away from the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Bentonville.
“The expansion of the Embassy Suites Hotel Northwest Arkansas and building of the John Q. Hammons Center are a sign of the continuing prosperity of Rogers,” said Steve Womack, Mayor of the City of Rogers. “The explosive growth in the area requires additional upscale, business-class hotel rooms. The new developments will have a positive impact on our visitors’ experience and on our local economy.”
The Embassy Suites Hotel Northwest Arkansas neighbors a 1 million-square-foot shopping mall and is within close proximity to major recreational destinations such as Beaver Lake, Devil’s Den and 20 area golf courses, contributing to the lure as a prime tourist destination.
“John Q. Hammons’ vision, commitment and investment in Northwest Arkansas is immeasurable,” said Bill W. Schwyhart, developer of The Pinnacle Group. “The Embassy Suites Hotel Northwest Arkansas and the new Hammons Center are part of what is making the Pinnacle Hills development a 365-days-per-year regional destination.”
