29th Jun 2005

Lebanon’s national flag-carrier, Middle
East Airlines
(MEA), has signed up for the RAPID revenue accounting solution
from Mercator, the Dubai-based IT division of the Emirates Group. MEA has selected the passenger revenue accounting version of the industry
leading RAPID system as part of its current initiative to streamline
processes, drive down costs and modernise in all areas of its business.

RAPID takes the information printed on airline passenger tickets and
analyses it to produce the financial and strategic information needed for
airline management to make informed decisions, quickly and with confidence. ,

Adib Chreif, MEA’s Head of Information Technology, said: “We will soon be
celebrating our 60th anniversary of operations here at MEA, yet we are not
resting on our laurels. We know that we have to continually innovate in
order to maintain our competitiveness, and RAPID will play a key part in
this new MEA.”,

Once the implementation has been completed, MEA will be able to close its
books in record time at the end of each financial period, boosting cash flow
and protecting hard-earned profits. Efficiency and productivity is boosted,
accounting costs are slashed and competitive edge is sharpened.,

Wael Hamdan, Head of Finance, MEA, said: “The RAPID solution will give us
all the tools we need to keep a close eye on how our business is performing,
and will revolutionise the way our finance department works. This is a very
exciting time.”,

MEA flies more than 1.7 million people a year on its fleet of nine brand new
Airbus aircraft. Its route network spans 23 international destinations
throughout Africa, Middle East, and Europe.,

Frank Zenke, Vice President Sales and Market Development, Mercator, said:
“Our financial solutions have without doubt become the preferred choice of
airlines all around the world. Regardless of their size and the market in
which they operate, our solutions make a real difference to airlines time
and time again. We’re looking forward to seeing MEA reap the benefits once
implementation has been completed.”,
