LodgeNet Entertainment Corporation is working with Movielink, LLC, to develop and deploy a service enabling laptop movie downloads at unprecedented speeds in guest rooms served by LodgeNet’s interactive TV and high-speed Internet access (HSIA) systems. The download of movies from LodgeNet’s integrated, on-site digital content server over a high-speed local-area network is the latest expansion of the company’s platform integration initiative.
“Consumers crave entertainment portability; it’s not just what they want, when they want it, but also where they want it,” said David M. Bankers, Senior Vice President, Product & Technology Development for LodgeNet. “By the end of this year, we envision hoteliers leveraging the existing LodgeNet platforms and network infrastructure to ‘WOW’ their guests by enabling legal, secure content downloads more than 6 times faster than with traditional broadband Internet access.”
