Industry Big Hitters Join WORLDHOTELS

WORLDHOTELS announced the formation of a supervisory board made up of leading industry players including former Opodo Chief Executive David Scowsill (pictured) and Hasso von During, CEO of TUI Leisure Travel.
The supervisory board, which consists of six members, comprising four representatives from current shareholders in addition to two external representatives from the travel and hospitality field, will assist the WORLDHOTELS executive board in consulting on the future growth and continuing success of the organisation, while developing and shaping its strategic direction.

The establishment of the supervisory board is a logical progression in the development of the WORLDHOTELS’ consolidation as a public limited company (AG) and the company’s re-positioning.

Commenting on the appointments Michael Ball, Chief Executive Officer WORLDHOTELS said: “The role of the supervisory board is a crucial one for the successful development of WORLDHOTELS. By bringing together shareholder members, who truly understand the nature, culture and ambitions of the organisation with the industry knowledge and know how of external specialists the board will prove a vital source of advice and expertise for the Executive Board”.

Ball continued, “we are particularly pleased to welcome Hasso von During and David Scowsill to the board. Hasso von During is head of the largest travel retail chain in Germany with over 1,600 retail outlets and 7,000 staff.  As such he will bring a unique insight and expertise to the WORLDHOTELS strategy. David Scowsill has a pedigree in on-line distribution and aviation unrivalled in the travel industry.  Both men bring huge credibility to WORLDHOTELS”.

Other members of the WORLDHOTELS advisory board, who have been selected for their expertise and reflect the international scope of the organisation include: Hans D Turnovszky, President & General Manager Austria Hotels International who will chair the board; Rainer Spielmann, Director Sales & Marketing Business Hotels, Steigenberger Hotel Group; Johanna Fragano, General Manager Hotel Quirinale, Rome; and Jens K Neelsen, Managing Partner Essex House Hotel and Convention Centre, California.
