Emirates Signs for Human Resources

The Emirates Group today signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with Tanmia (The National Human Resource Development &
Employment Authority) at Careers UAE 2005, to train and subsequently recruit
375 UAE nationals across the spectrum of the group’s activities. The agreement was signed by Fahad A. Al Hassawi, Emirates’ Vice President -
Human Resources (Employee Services) and Marwan Ahmed Al Sawaleh, Tanmia’s
Assistant Director General at Emirates’ stylish stand at the career fair.

The Emirates Group, renowned for its topnotch levels of service at every
customer point, will absorb all the trainees in direct and challenging
client-interface functions such as ticketing, reservations, check-in,
call-centres and customer service.

According to the terms of the MOU, trainees will be nominated jointly by
Tanmia and Emirates, based on assessments conducted by both organizations.
The trainees will be subsequently enrolled in customized English language
training programmes, partly funded by Tanmia, at the Emirates Aviation
College (EAC), which is part of the Emirates Group.

Once the recruits successfully complete their initial training, they will
attend specialized programmes designed by the EAC and based on the skills
and qualifications required by the Emirates Group, which is rapidly
expanding its operations globally. Additionally, the EAC will continuously
monitor, assess and certify trainees and provide career assessment and
placement tests.

Mr Fahad A. Al Hassawi said: “We are delighted to sign this MOU with Tanmia,
which will facilitate meeting the high targets we have set for recruiting
Emiratis this year. Our stringent training programmes, which include
on-the-job components, will ensure that the trainees commence their careers
with the Emirates Group with confidence, and will be ambassadors of
Emirates’ high standards. The Emirates Group is committed to the recruitment and development of young
Emiratis.”

As Emirates continues its fast-paced global expansion, the Group is on track
to recruit nearly 550 Emiratis during the current financial year, a 57 per
cent increase over last year, reflecting its strong commitment to national
recruitment and the government’s initiatives.

Mr Marwan Ahmed Al Sawaleh said: “The Emirates Group has been very proactive
in recruiting UAE Nationals into their workforce. We are proud of signing
this MOU with an organisation which is an umbrella for such a wide range of
internationally well-known brands in the aviation, travel and hospitality
sectors; is globally renowned for its unsurpassed levels of service; and is
at the cutting edge of technology and systems. We are confident the recruits
will have excellent opportunities for good careers within the Emirates
Group.”
