German Market Reconfirms its Interest in Dubai

The Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, and the German Convention Bureau (GCB) Managing Director, Mr. Lutz P. Vogt, met at the Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events (IMEX-2005) in Frankfurt and reviewed the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) market trends and discussed ways of cooperation.
Heading the biggest-ever delegation for the three-day annual networking gathering of MICE industry decision-makers and German tourism industry key players, Mr. bin Sulayem presented Mr. Lutz promotional literature about Dubai, including The Definitive Meeting & Event Planner’s Guide.

Now into its second edition, this flagship publication of Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB) has remained in big demand at the IMEX-2005 which attracted over 3,000 hosted-buyers and 2,500 exhibitors from over 130 countries. The publication has an initial print run of 10,000 copies.

Mr. bin Sulayem said Dubai has been working not only towards matching the needs of the MICE industry but exceeding the expectations of the visitors of the ideal year-round business and leisure destination.

He briefed the German official about the vision and hard work that resulted in Dubai emerging firmly on the world ‘MICE’ map, especially after hosting the joint annual gathering IMF-World Bank in September 2003. Infrastructure development for the MICE industry too came up during the meeting.

The meeting was attended among others by the DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mr. Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb, and Director of Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB), Mr. Awadh Al Seghayer.
