Lufthansa and JAT Forge Ahead

Lufthansa and the Serbian JAT Airways are to extend their cooperation and on 18th April introduced bilateral code-sharing on all flights of the two airlines between Belgrade and Frankfurt as well as Belgrade and Munich. A unilateral code-sharing has already existed since June last year on the flights operated by Lufthansa on these routes. Thanks to mutually coordinated flight plans, the passengers of both airlines will benefit from the partnership as a result of an improvement and extension of the travel possibilities between Germany and Serbia/Montenegro. Combinable tariffs will make travel beyond Belgrade to South-East Europe, or coming from Belgrade via Frankfurt and Munich in future more attractive in terms of price. Miles & More members can in future collect and redeem miles on all JAT flights between Germany and Serbia/Montenegro.

In addition, the two airlines will make practically seamless travel possible for their passengers, in that, for example, passengers and baggage can check in for the entire course of the route. The passengers of Serbian JAT Airways will be provided with access via the two Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt and Munich to the worldwide Lufthansa network with 177 destinations in 73 countries. Via the Star Alliance connections, they will even have a choice of around 800 destinations in 140 countries. Tickets can be obtained from travel agents as well as from the call centers of both airlines.

For some time now, JAT Airways has been making use of the IT systems of Lufthansa Systems. In other areas too, a cooperation between the two airlines is feasible in future.
