Battle of the Beds Heats Up

Starwood launches its latest salvo in the ongoing battle of the hotel beds with today’s debut of its long-awaited Four Points by Sheraton Four Comfort Bed in 5,000 guestrooms in 30 of its 100 hotels throughout North America. Just as the Westin Heavenly Bed served as a wake-up call to the upper and upscale hotel segment in 1999, the Four Points by Sheraton Four Comfort Bed is the first of its kind to roll out in the moderately-priced hotel arena. Representing a $13 million investment, the Four Comfort Bed will be in all Four Points by Sheraton hotels in North America by end of summer 2005.
Four Points by Sheraton brings a whole new level of style and comfort to the moderately-priced hotel category with the launch of its Four Comfort Bed. Following in the footsteps of the Westin Heavenly Bed and sister brand Sheraton’s popular Sweet Sleeper Bed, the Four Points by Sheraton Four Comfort Bed is a multi-layered, cozy cocoon designed to pamper guests. In addition to the stylish, plump and plaid duvet available in a rich palette of colors to match each hotel’s decor, the bed features a plush mattress and a welcoming quartet of pillows for relaxing that includes two feather/down sleeping pillows and two oversized lounging pillows. Additional bed components include a bed skirt, mattress pad, plush blanket, and a decorative pillow featuring the brand’s signature compass logo.

“Four Points by Sheraton understands what travelers want and is taking steps to ensure that our guests’ most important needs are met and that time spent on the road is more special than you thought it could be,” said Hoyt Harper II, the brand’s senior vice president. “We’re all about providing our customers with a product that will reflect their lifestyle, and our new bed offers all the relaxation and comfort that they crave. The bed is both cozy and inviting, featuring a great new design that will appeal to our guests.”

Four Points by Sheraton Celebrates Bed Launch with World’s First “Nap Hotel”

To launch the Four Comfort Bed, Four Points by Sheraton is opening the world’s first nap hotel, designed to help Americans adjust to Daylight Savings Time and coinciding with National Napping Day (April 4). Conveniently located in midtown Manhattan, the Four Points by Sheraton “Napitat” will offer weary New Yorkers a chance to get back that extra hour of sleep in cozy Four Comfort Beds. The hotel will provide “nappers” with an oasis of comfort that is both uncomplicated and relaxing. Complimentary naps will be available today from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 545 Fifth Avenue (between E. 44th and E. 45th Streets) in midtown Manhattan.

Boston University Professor William A. Anthony, Ph.D., world-renowned nap expert and his wife Camille Anthony, president of The Napping Company*, who launched National Napping Day in 1999 to showcase the many health and scientific benefits to napping, will be on hand at the Four Points by Sheraton “Napitat” to tout the virtues of napping and offer tips on how best to nap. Four Points by Sheraton is the official hotel sponsor of National Napping Day.
