Meritus Hotels & Resorts has appointed Tony J Cousens as General Manager of the Marina Mandarin. Mr Cousens takes over from Eddie Tan who has resigned to join UOL Parkroyal.
Mr Cousens was with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in North America for 10 years, from 1975 to 1985 and since then he chalked up an impressive career with the Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts including the last four years as General Manager of the luxury 296-room Le Royal Meridien King Edward Hotel, the only member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Toronto.

Mr Cousens is no stranger to Singapore, after joining Le Meridien Hotel, Vancouver, as Director of Marketing & Sales in 1985, he was posted to Singapore in a regional capacity in 1987. In 1989, he left for Hong Kong as Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales for Asia Pacific. Between 1997 and 2000, he was Senior Vice President Worldwide Marketing & Sales headquartered in London, UK, accountable for the marketing & sales of 145 hotels located in 55 countries.

A British-Canadian national, Mr Cousens is fluent in English and French and has a good knowledge of Spanish. He is also Marketing Strategic Advisor to Les Roches Hotel School, Switzerland.
