Couples Swept Away hosts second annual Tennis Fantasy Camp

After a successful premier of Couples Resorts’ first Tennis Fantasy Camp, the dates are now set for a rematch. The 2nd Annual Tennis Fantasy Camp will take place October 6-9, 2005 at Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica.
The weekend will feature professional athletes providing world-class instruction and clinics in a fun, resort atmosphere. The Fantasy Camp includes full days of tennis clinics, a round robin tournament and pro exhibitions, plus a kick-off welcome reception, beach party and private dinner and awards reception.Ê The first camp hosted 20 amateur players and this year expects about 40 participants.

“We anticipate an increase in participants this time around.Ê However, space will be limited because we want to make sure the program keeps its intimate feeling and provides personal one-on-one instruction from the pros, so we suggest reserving early,” said the resort’s General Manager Ricardo Bowleg.

“All of last year’s participants were extremely pleased with the experience and we expect a lot of repeat players, many have already reserved their spots.”

Swept Away will lure back celebrity tennis pros Luke Jensen and Brenda Schultz-McCarthy after their participation in the first camp, which took place in January of this year.Ê Luke’s brother, Murphy Jensen will join them, as well as tennis expert Lori McNeil.

The foursome will be at the resort throughout the weekend providing opportunities to watch, learn and play tennis at Swept Away’s first-class 10-acre sport complex.Ê

Sharon and Stewart Weltman of Chicago, participants in the first camp, said, “The camp was scheduled perfectly.Ê We had just the right combination of tennis instruction and leisure time. The resort is gorgeous and the tennis facility is to die for with both clay and hard courts.

The hotel staff and instructors were fabulous and overly accommodating and friendly.Ê Plus, we met other couples who shared our interest in tennis and took away great friendships that we still treasure.”
