Hilton to Manage New Villahermosa Conference Center

As part of the company’s continued expansion into Mexico, Hilton Hotels Corporation is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the management contract for the Hilton Villahermosa & Conference Center, a new 220-room full-service hotel that is currently under construction and scheduled to open in April 2005. The hotel is owned by Inmobiliaria Puerta Maya S.A. de C.V. of Villahermosa, Mexico.
“Located at a vital center for tourism and commerce in the southernmost part of the Gulf of Mexico, the Hilton Villahermosa & Conference Center will serve visitors to Villahermosa’s dynamic industries and to the area’s rich cultural and archaeological attractions,” said Dieter Huckestein, executive vice president, Hilton Hotels Corporation and president, Hotel Operations Owned & Managed. “We look forward to managing the hotel and seeing it succeed as a valued resource for tourists, business travelers and the local community by offering legendary Hilton service, style and amenities.”

The Hilton Villahermosa and Conference Center is located adjacent to the Villahermosa International Airport and just four miles from downtown Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco. Dubbed as “The Energy City of Mexico,” Villahermosa is the axis of Mexico’s oil and gas activities. The hotel will serve business travelers visiting Villahermosa’s growing oil industrial complexes and natural gas facilities, and will be the ideal starting point for visitors to the Mayan Trail, ruins of Palenque and other nearby historical and archaeological sites of the Mayan and Olmecan cultures. The hotel will offer the largest and most technologically advanced meeting space in Villahermosa, including a 7,200 square foot ballroom and 12,000 square feet of total meeting space. The hotel will also feature a full-service restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a fitness center and comprehensive spa facilities.

“When complete, this full-service hotel will exceed its guests’ expectations with luxurious amenities, personalized guest service and extensive business facilities,” said Jorge Gutierrez, general manager, Hilton Villahermosa & Conference Center. “We anticipate that the expansive meeting space will attract groups that could not previously have been accommodated in Villahermosa.”
