Mandarin Oriental, Macau announced the appointment of new General Manager, Mr Pierre Barthes, effective 1 November 2004.

Mr Barthes brings with him a wealth of more than 20 years of experience in hospitality industry. In 1998, he joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as Food & Beverage Director at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental.  In 1999, he was transferred to Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco as Rooms Division Director before he was promoted as Resident Manager.  After two and a half years, Mr Barthes moved to Mandarin Oriental, New York as Resident Manager and contributed to the opening of the hotel.

Mr Barthes started his career as Director of Restaurants at The Westin Galleria in Dallas, Texas.  Before joining Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Mr Barthes served as Resident Manager of The Park Lane in Jakarta responsible for the opening of the hotel as well as the Director of Food & Beverage at The Regent in Kuala Lumpur.  He spent 12 years with Westin Hotels and Resorts where he participated in the opening of several hotels.

Mr Barthes succeeds Mr Jonas Schuermann who has taken up the position of General Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur.
