Newly launched Moorings 4000 christened in Tortola

The newly launched Moorings 4000 was christened on November 4 at The Moorings 35th Anniversary Celebration in Tortola by the Chief Minister of the British Virgin Islands,
Dr. The Honorable D. Orlando Smith. Joining in the christening was Mr. Charlie Cary, founder of The Moorings; Mr. Lex Raas, President & Chief Operating Officer of The Moorings and Mr. Clarence Malone, Regional Director of The Moorings. This yacht is the newest model catamaran to join the Moorings fleet and had just arrived in the Caribbean.Lex Raas, commented, “It is appropriate that the christening of this new yacht is part of the Moorings 35th Anniversary Celebration in Tortola, BVI where The Moorings was founded in 1969 by Charlie and Ginny Cary. This is our home and the successful partnership with the Government and citizens of the BVI has allowed us to grow and serve over one million customers worldwide since our founding.”

In the nautical tradition, the yacht was launched with champagne by The Chief Minster of the BVI who said, “I am proud to be a part of this special celebration and yacht christening.  This yacht exemplifies The Moorings high standards as both a pioneer in our tourism industry and ongoing leadership role in providing world-class service and an unmatched level of professionalism. This new yacht is but one example of their setting the benchmark for the charter and hospitality industry in the BVI.” As the pioneer of the charter fleet program in the British Virgin Islands, The Moorings has successfully grown from six yachts to a fleet of over 800 yachts worldwide operating from 31 bases.

The 35th Anniversary Celebration included a welcome by His Excellency The Governor Thomas Macan, the Governor of The British Virgin Islands. Guests from around the world joined local partners and government officials in the celebration with Moorings customers, Moorings staff and world-class yacht builders Beneteau and Robertson & Caine. The event was capped off with a Caribbean performance by a well-known band from Tortola, Quito and The Edge.
