Amadeus Set to Sign Major IT Contract with SAA

Amadeus announced that it has signed a letter of intent with South African Airways (SAA) for the provision of its new generation Customer Management Systems, to help the airline streamline its operations and maximise customer value. Subject to contractual negotiations and Board approval, SAA will adopt Amadeus’ Altéa Sell (sales & reservations), Altéa Plan (inventory control) and Altéa Fly (departure control) systems.

In signing up for Amadeus’ IT platform for airlines, SAA would join current customers, Qantas, British Airways, Finnair and the German airline, dba.

Altéa Plan takes an airline’s operational integration and customer loyalty to higher levels. Changes to flight schedules can be distributed around the world in just a matter of hours; with legacy systems this process can take days to accomplish. In addition, airlines can offer dramatically improved customer service because Altéa gives them access to a single database of customer information across systems in real-time, which they can use to “turn passengers into profitable customers”.
