Turks and Caicos witness ‘honeymoon boom’.
Officials at the Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association (TCHTA) are describing a vast increase in couples coming to hold their weddings and spend their honeymoons in the Turks and Caicos Islands as a “honeymoon boom”.President of the TCHTA Gary Greenwood explains “over the last few years the Turks and Caicos Islands has attracted accolades from the worldwide media for its romantic beaches, properties and secluded hideaways. We are now seeing more couples than ever coming to enjoy the destination on an unprecedented scale - this is a honeymoon boom with numbers of honeymooners increasing by up to a staggering 64%Ê at some of our member hotels in 2004 compared to 2003.”
One of the newer properties on Grace Bay Beach, the elegant Turks and Caicos Club has been named by Travel + Leisure magazine as one of their Most Romantic New Retreats by the Sea. Managers of the resort have seen anÊ increase in Honeymooners as well as people celebrating their anniversaries at the property.
Spokeswoman for the Turks and Caicos Club, Tiffany Dowd recalls “At one time, we had a couple of Honeymooners, a couple celebrating their 25 year anniversary as well as another couple celebrating their 50th anniversary, all staying with us in the same week!”
