South African Tourism is partnering with
Virgin Atlantic Airways this fall on a groundbreaking new marketing campaign
designed to highlight the airline as an outstanding travel option to South
Africa.“Virgin Territory Meets South Africa” will feature South Africa’s
first-ever promotional presence with Expedia.com, which will spotlight the
promotion.  The site is currently inviting travelers to “awaken your senses”
with convenient flight and luxury hotel packages beginning at $1,636.
  “We are delighted to embark on this exciting new partnership with Virgin
Atlantic,” said Prudence Solomon, President, South African Tourism USA.
“Virgin not only provides one of the industry’s finest travel experiences, but
its South African itinerary through London provides travelers with access to
our country from major airports across the United States. In addition to
showcasing the natural wonders and cultural treasures of our land, we look
forward to sharing what is perhaps the most important element of a journey to
South Africa…..the warm and welcoming hearts of our people.”
  “There are few places in the world that offer the magic and the majesty of
South Africa,” said Simon Newton-Smith, Assistant Vice President-Sales, of
Virgin Atlantic Airways.  “And with our flights through London we are bringing
the South African experience closer to our passengers than ever before.”
  The campaign is designed to motivate travel to South Africa on Virgin
Atlantic Airways from October 2004 through February 2005.  Packages include a
7-night stay at one of South Africa’s 3 1/2 star hotels, from $1,636, valid
for travel in January and February, and features a New York (JFK) to
Johannesburg itinerary with a Thursday departure to South Africa and Saturday
return to JFK.
  In November, travelers can take advantage of a $1,644 package, including
seven nights at a 3 1/2 star hotel, with a Tuesday departure and Thursday
return.
  Two special packages are also available to Cape Town, known as one of the
world’s most elegant and cosmopolitan cities.  These five-night packages
feature a Saturday departure from New York JFK and a return to JFK the
following Saturday.  Prices for this package start at $1693.
