Qantas Has Reasons to Celebrate

Qantas Airways, Australia’s world-renowned global carrier, has many reasons to celebrate. Its Sydney, Australia home base has been named in Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards as Best City in the Pacific Rim. Chosen by readers for the ninth time, Sydney’s latest recognition coupled with Qantas’ distinctive, long-standing reputation for excellence in the sky and on the ground, proves every bit the winning combination for travelers visiting this vibrantly unique part of the world. The Reader’s Choice Awards are the highest honor in the travel industry, celebrating the best-of-the-best hotels, airlines, resorts, cruise lines, cities, rental car companies and islands as voted by the magazine’s dedicated readers. The results are pulled from the largest independent poll of consumers’ preferences, second only to the U.S. Census.

“We are delighted that Sydney has once again achieved this distinctive honor,” said Wally R. Mariani, senior executive vice president for Qantas Airways, The Americas. “This recognition is awarded by people from all over the globe who have had the exciting opportunity to travel to Sydney and we’re proud to play a role in their travel experience. At Qantas, we continue our commitment to delivering the best possible in-flight service to discriminating readers who come from afar to enjoy the ‘best’ city in the Pacific Rim,” he added.

Qantas offers the most nonstop flights to Sydney from North America than any other carrier. With 42 weekly flights to the South Pacific departing from its gateway cities of New York, Los Angeles and Honolulu, passengers have many choices to accommodate their busy lifestyles and global travel needs. Connections are also available from most North American cities. Upon arrival in Australia, Qantas is the only airline that flies to more than 50 domestic cities and five destinations in New Zealand.
