Song Serves Special ‘Pink Martini’

27th Sep 2004

Song, Delta Air Lines’ low-fare,
high-style air service, is joining the fight against breast cancer in
October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with a special signature cocktail
sold on-board to benefit the cause. In addition to its existing offering
of signature cocktails, Song will sell a new “Pink Martini” throughout
October and donate 20% of all proceeds to the Avon Foundation Breast
Cancer Crusade. Song’s special charitable concoction, priced at $5,
consists of cranapple juice and vodka shaken over ice, served in a martini
glass with a splash of Sprite and topped off with a lime. “We are thrilled to be working with the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer
Crusade, which has worked tirelessly for more than a decade to help fight
breast cancer,” said Joanne Smith, Song’s vice president of marketing &
customers. “We hope our new cocktail, inspired by the pink-ribbon—the
symbol for breast cancer awareness—will help raise awareness for the
cause as well as much needed funding to facilitate education, early
detection, cure and prevention of the disease.”

Through the Avon Foundation, the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade raises money
to fund access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer. The goal of
the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is to benefit all women through research,
clinical care, support services, education and early detection, but there
is special emphasis on reaching medically underserved women, including
low-income, elderly and minority women, and women without adequate health
insurance. Over the last 10 years, the Crusade has raised and distributed
$300 million to fight breast cancer.

The Pink Martini augments Song’s four other signature cocktails sold on-
board, including: the “Song Cosmo,” made with Finlandia vodka and
cranapple juice, shaken and served up with a splash of orange juice; the
“Song Appletini,” made with Finlandia vodka and DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker
shaken over ice; and the “Big Apple Martini,” made with Jack Daniels,
DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker and a splash of cranapple.

Song’s on-board food menu offers customers a variety of options, including
healthy, organic food, unexpected beverages and a few indulgences. The
diverse menu includes organic salads, low-carb options and co-branded
treats from Dylan’s Candy Bar—the innovative candy store co-founded by
Dylan Lauren.
