easyJet Launches New Route from London Gatwick

Today at London Gatwick, easyJet
launches a New route to Cologne adding Germany to the choice of countries on offer from its largest London base.
Passengers checking in for the inaugural flight to the German City will be offered Champagne and snacks, while German flags will decorate the usually orange desks.


Sales for the daily service to Cologne have been strong and with fares from £17.99 one way (£30.98 return including taxes), easyJet expects the route to be very popular with both business and leisure travellers, with over 160,000 passengers travelling in the first 12 months.


easyJet now offers a choice 29 destinations from the London Airport, with 82 daily flights operated by 13 aircraft. The airline now carries over 3.5 million passengers a year from Gatwick, and recognises the great potential for increased frequencies and new destinations in the future.


easyJet recently announced ongoing expansion plans at London’s Gatwick Airport and over the course of the next few months easyJet will add frequencies to a number of existing routes and start new services to wholly-new destinations.


easyJet CEO Ray Webster says: “Today is an exciting day for easyJet, as it represents another step in the airline’s planned expansion to link important UK bases with the German market. There are many opportunities in Germany at present, and the airline considers the country to be of great strategic importance. easyJet expects the route to be a great success with over 160,000 passengers travelling in the first 12 months.”
