Angel Fire Tops Mexican Golf List

At 8,690 feet in elevation,
Angel Fire Resort’s golf course is known for big drives and even bigger
views. The New Mexico Business Weekly has taken notice of the resort’s
special place in the state’s golf industry. The magazine has named Angel
Fire one of the top 5 public golf courses in the state. This honor is more
proof that Angel Fire Resort is the Southwest’s premier year-round alpine
recreation destination. Angel Fire’s head golf professional, Jon Bohannon, is not surprised with
the results.

“To be honest with you we have a lot of advantages over other courses.
Where else can you hit off the tee box against the backdrop of Wheeler
Peak? With all the stunning views on every hole, I really think, if you
don’t play well here, most people won’t remember that, they’ll remember
the experience. If you do play well, you’ll remember both.”

The New Mexico Business Weekly compared all of New Mexico’s public golf
courses and ranked the top 25 best in the state. Each course was ranked by
its Championship or back tee yardage rating slope. Angel Fire’s course
tied with Towa Golf Resort in Santa Fe with a ratings slope of 136.

At 8,690 feet, Angel Fire Resort’s golf course is the highest elevated
course in New Mexico and among the highest in the country. Green fees are
$50 dollars during the week and $65 on weekends. There’s still time to
play golf this season; Angel Fire’s course will stay open until October
17th.
