Midwest Names Director of Market Planning

Midwest Airlines today
announced the appointment of an industry veteran to the position of
director of market planning. Bruce B. Wetsel will join the airline in late
September, assuming a key role in the development of future routes,
schedules and fleet for Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines and its wholly
owned subsidiary, Skyway Airlines.
“We’re very pleased to welcome such a talented individual to the Midwest
Airlines team,” said Timothy E. Hoeksema, chairman and chief executive
officer. “Effective market planning is vital to our efforts to compete in
our very challenging industry, and we’re confident that Bruce’s experience
will serve us well.”

Wetsel comes to Midwest from Alaska Airlines, where he served as director
of capacity planning and was responsible for schedule planning and
development, route planning, and the annual operating plan. His airline
experience spans six companies—including United, Frontier, AirCal,
American, Tahoe Air and Alaska—over more than 30 years and roles in
route planning, strategic planning, schedule development and fleet
planning. He has also served as a consultant to a number of
transportation-related organizations including Sabre Consulting Group,
Ansett Airlines, Greyhound Bus Co., El Toro Redevelopment Authority and
Martin Aviation.

Wetsel holds a bachelor of science in business administration and a
master’s of business administration from the University of Akron, Ohio.
