Appointments and Promotion at Mandarin Macau

Mr Jonas A Schuermann, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Macau, announced the appointment of Ms Gigi Vega as Executive Assistant Manager-Rooms, Mr Derek Long as Resort Director, Mr Alberto de Jesus Pereira as Chief of Security as well as the promotion of Mr David J Perrot to Executive Assistant Manager-Food & Beverage.

Formerly the Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Rooms Division at Mandarin Oriental, Manila, Ms Gigi Vega owns 17 years of hotel experience. She joined Mandarin Oriental, Manila in 1998 as Director of Rooms Division and then was promoted to Executive Assistant Manager-Rooms Division in 2002. Ms Vega began her hospitality career since 1988 with extensive skill and knowledge in the area of Front of House operations, Guest Relations and Revenue Management.

Mr Derek Long, a highly motivated sports and fitness professional, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the leisure industry including resort operation and management as well as coaching in a wide variety of sports including football, swimming and badminton.  Before moving to Asia, his last position was Sports & Recreation Manager at the Oasis Residential Resorts in Saudi Arabia, a luxurious property with more than 900 residents.  Prior to working in the Middle East, Derek was responsible for the Spa and Fitness area at the Old Course Hotel in Scotland.

It is a return engagement for Mr Alberto de Jesus Pereira as he was the previous Chief of Security of Mandarin Oriental, Macau until 2002. Graduated from the Macau Police School, Mr Pereira held a number of senior positions in various police and inspection departments. Prior to returning to Mandarin Oriental, Macau, Mr Pereira was in Portugal running his own business.

Mandarin Oriental, Macau has also announced the promotion of Mr David J Perrot to Executive Assistant Manager-Food & Beverage. Mr Perrot began his hotel career with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group back in 1995, and worked at The Oriental in Bangkok and The Excelsior in Hong Kong. He joined Mandarin Oriental, Macau in 2002 as Food & Beverage Manager.
