EXCLUSIVE: Barbados spared by Ivan

The Caribbean island of Barbados was spared the full strength of Hurricane Ivan, which affected the Island as a tropical storm as it passed South.

ÊThe Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association has confirmed the majority of its membership is in good shape and fully operational.Ê Two small hotels on the South East coast incurred minimal property damage.

“All the appropriate pre-hurricane precautions were enacted to ensure all our visitors and residents were secure and safe.Ê While there is still residual effects Barbados has been spared any significant damage from the hurricane’s path,” said Bill Silvermintz, VP Americas, Barbados Tourism Authority.

The Grantley Adams International Airport in Barabdos is expected to reopen Tuesday.
