Jurys Boston Showcases Irish Art

Beyond exquisite lace, traditional
crystal and woolen apparel, Ireland’s art world is gaining a reputation as
an incubator for Europe’s best contemporary designers. In Boston—the
most Irish city in America—at the new 220-room Jurys Boston Hotel,
guests can view and order nearly 100 original commissioned pieces of
varying materials, including ceramics, glass, wood and textiles. The
pieces are on display in public areas and in the lobby’s Il Barista lounge.
Brought to the U.S. exclusively for Jurys Boston Hotel, Cork-based East of
Boston has spent nine months hand-picking the best artists for this new
Irish hotel to receive exposure to thousands of hotel visitors. All pieces
are available for order by phone, online at http://www.eastofboston.com/,
or at hotel reception. The pieces were installed just prior to the hotel’s
opening in June 2004.

According to Stephen Johnston, a Dublin native and general manager of the
Jurys Boston Hotel, “We are pleased to give these innovative artists an
audience here in the U.S.”

Jurys Boston Hotel, a beautiful restoration of the city’s former police
headquarters, is located at 350 Stuart Street in Boston’s Back Bay
neighborhood and features 220 elegantly appointed guest rooms, five
meeting rooms, and three suites. The hotel also features the Stanhope
Grille, Cuffs- An Irish Bar, and the Il Barista Lounge. Heritage,
craftsmanship and warm Irish hospitality are found into every corner of
this impressive nine-story hotel. (The hotel’s phone number is
617-266-7200.)

“Jurys Boston Hotel weaves European design references in with the city’s
unique Irish experience, particularly the infusion of Irish style elements
into Boston’s culture,” said Linda Snyder, design director of Concepts 4
Inc.

Just as the new Ireland lives comfortably alongside its ancient heritage,
Jurys Boston Hotel proudly showcases history and modernity in a single
landmark structure.
