SWISS Responds to Fuel Price Rises

With the price of oil reaching record highs on the world markets, SWISS is compelled to effect a further temporary increase in its fares on flights from Switzerland. A further CHF 7 will be added in each direction to all tickets to European destinations from September 1 onwards, and intercontinental tickets will be subject to a CHF 20 surcharge in each direction from the same date. SWISS increased all its fares from Switzerland by 3% with effect from May 20, 2004. But oil prices have continued to rise over the last few weeks and days, and experts see little prospect of their easing in the immediate future. SWISS will continue to monitor developments on the aviation fuel market, and cannot currently rule out further surcharges or adjustments to fares.
