Singapore Airlines (SIA) have introduced the SIA Short Message Service (SMS) Check-in to enable frequent flyers and registered users of the SIA website to conveniently check-in using their mobile phones.“With this new service, our customers can check-in remotely using SMS, the internet, phone or fax.Ê This enables our customers to check-in in the manner that is most convenient and saves time for the passenger,” said Yap Kim Wah, SIA’s Senior Vice President of Products and Services.

SIA’s new service will initially apply to flights departing from 12 cities around the world including Auckland, Bandar Seri Begawan, Bangkok, Chennai, Christchurch, Dhaka, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Penang, Singapore and Taipei.

To access the service, customers must first register at the SIA website www.singaporeair.com
.Ê At the website, go to “My Flight Alerts” and click on “Check-in Notification Service via SMS” and the customer is ready to utilise the service. On checking in via SMS on the mobile phone, the customer will receive a confirmation of the check-in and the allocated seat number also via SMS.Ê
