Olympic Airlines Announces Inflight Promotion

On August 9, 2004, in celebration of the
Summer Games, passengers on-board Olympic Airlines’ flights between New
York and Athens will receive a 16-page booklet highlighting selections
from Susanna Hoffman’s new Greek Cookbook, The Olive & The Caper. *
Hoffman, an anthropologist and author of nine books, has written a
600-plus-page book that is a sensuous adventure of luscious recipes,
itinerant travel, and historical anecdotes. Olympic Airlines noted, “We
are very excited to offer this colorful excerpt of The Olive & The Caper
and believe that it is a wonderful introduction to the food, wine and
culture of Greece.”

In the booklet, Hoffman shares four meze recipes paired with Boutari
wines, one of which, Boutari Moschofilero, is available on board for
passengers to order. According to Susanna Hoffman, “Greeks are known for
their hospitality and I think it is important to educate people about the
rich food and wine culture in Greece. Fortunately in the past 20 years,
the Greek wine industry has seen a tremendous renaissance and the cuisine
has garnered attention for giving birth to the much-heralded Mediterranean
diet.”

Boutari celebrates its 125th Anniversary this year and continues to be
recognized as the leader in the pursuit of quality wine production in
Greece. For passengers who enjoy wine and are curious to learn more, the
booklet takes readers on a tour of four of Boutari’s wineries that are
open to the public. The Boutari wineries featured in the booklet all
provide tours and tastings for the public. All of the wineries are
accessible via Olympic Airlines’ domestic network.

In addition to Hoffman’s recipes, the booklet contains history and
anecdotes from the earliest of Greece’s civilizations to today; a section
on the history of Greek wines as well as an essay on the origins of the
Olympics.

The booklets are available on board during the month of August. For people
planning a trip to Greece, the booklets are also available at all US
Olympic Airlines’ ticket offices (New York, Washington D.C., Boston,
Chicago and Miami).
