America West to Begin New Vegas Service

In a move that further
reinforces its position as Las Vegas’ hometown airline, America West
Airlines announced at a press conference here today that it will begin
nonstop service to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1,
2004, respectively. America West is adding service to 15 new destinations
from Las Vegas this year, making it the obvious carrier of choice for
local residents who will have nonstop service to 54 destinations—more
than any other airline. “Air service to Las Vegas has always been about bringing vacationers here
to stay and play, but Las Vegas has become much more than just a
destination. Las Vegas’ explosive growth and economic development even
outside of the gaming industry is unprecedented. America West is now
offering the only service from Las Vegas specifically designed to give Las
Vegans easy access to vacation destinations,” said Scott Kirby, executive
vice president, sales and marketing.

Nevada’s entire congressional delegation is applauding America West’s new
service.

U.S. Representative Shelley Berkley (D-NV), who sits on the House Aviation
Subcommittee said, “America West’s new service to Los Cabos and Puerto
Vallarta will provide a fun and inexpensive destination for southern
Nevada travelers and a new opportunity to bring even more visitors to Las
Vegas. Safe, reliable and affordable air travel to and from southern
Nevada is not only a key to our success as a tourist destination, it is
also a lifeline that helps families and friends stay connected. I
congratulate America West on its latest expansion and I wish the airline
and its employees nothing but continued success.”

“These flights will strengthen Las Vegas’ reputation as a premiere
international travel destination. This is great news for the Las Vegas
economy and great news for America West. America West’s long-time
involvement with McCarran Airport has been beneficial to both, and I hope
it will continue to be long into the future,” said Senator Harry Reid.

Senator John Ensign said, “America West’s decision to add flights between
Mexico and Las Vegas presents many great opportunities. This will not only
expand potential tourism here in Las Vegas but also provide southern
Nevadans the chance to travel and visit Mexico’s Baja California and
Jalisco. Some visitors may be going for the first time and others may call
the area ‘home’, but either way they will have more travel options now.”

“I want to congratulate America West Airlines for the additional service
to Mexico,” said U.S. Representative Jon Porter. “This announcement bodes
well for our community residents and reflects the consumer confidence in
southern Nevada as well as the strength of our travel and tourism market.
America West is a key partner in helping to accommodate nearly 36 million
passengers that travel through McCarran International Airport, and the air
service they provide is critical to all of Nevada.”

With fares as low as $99* each way, based on a roundtrip purchase, Las
Vegans will be able to enjoy an affordable beach vacation with convenient,
nonstop air service. America West Vacations, known for bringing thousands
of visitors to Las Vegas each year, also offers some of the best rates
available on packages to Mexico including airfare, hotel accommodations
and airport transfers. Many partner resorts offer all-inclusive options.
Los Cabos features fantastic scuba diving and snorkeling conditions
year-round and unique, award-winning golf courses. Puerto Vallarta
features great shopping, restaurants and a beachfront walkway perfect for
watching magnificent sunsets.

Service to Puerto Vallarta will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
and Saturdays. Service to Los Cabos will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays,
Saturdays and Sundays. The service will be provided by America West
Express, which is operated by subsidiary airlines of Mesa Air Group, using
Canadair Regional Jets.
